Laos Fdc & Stamps Betal Tray

Betal Tray
The betel nut has a long and varied history of use in many culture. Used extensively in Eastern and Avurvedic medicine to cure a variety of ailments, it’s perhaps best known for it’s use as a mild stimulant by Hill tribe members and villagers of Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand. The nut is mixed with a variety of leaves and other ingredients to create a chew, and the betel nut tray arose as a practical, through sometimes extravagant, solution to storing the various components. Handicrafted in Laos, our elaborate betel nut tray is a reproduction of traditional containers, designed with more than four for compartments to hold the different ingredients used in making the betel chew. The tray is made by wood, silver, copper, brass and rattan and decorated with the Lao different sculptures.
